It is a streotype. A lot of Rappers have grown up in rough neigborhoods. Some didnt. But people just have this stereotype that Rappers grew up in a rough neighborhood so they should be criminals. Some are and some are not. But they think all Rappers are criminals. They like some Rappers that are criminal so they expect all to be one.

An artist doesn’t have to be a criminal. They just need to adjust to the sounds and lyrics of the genre.
Plenty of artists have done illegal stuff and I still think they make trash music.
