How many kJ of heat are needed to completely melt 46.0 g of sodium metal? The heat of fusion for this metal is 2.60 kJ/mol.?

    GIven 46.0 g, write that down and apply converters (1)

    46.0 g (1 mol/22.989769g) (2.60 kJ/mol) leaves just 'kJ' and cancels other units

    5.202314125035358119 kJ

    round to 3 sigfigs = 5.20 kJ

    Q = Lf X n  ...  Lf = heat of fusion  ..  n = number of moles

      n = mass / molar mass  =  46.0 / 23   =  2 moles

       Q =  2.60  X 2  =  5.200 kJ  <<< round for sig figs
