Tlr1-hl or tlr-7a for defense pistol?
My G23 currently has a tlr-hl that I like because it works great as an impact point without damaging my barrel or guide rod (if I'm attacked during mag changes) it also can be used to leverage the gun back if an attacker tries to push it out of battery.
However its a pain to conceal carry and just wanted some thoughts and opinions on switching to the smaller light. The chance of it being knocked out of battery goes way up plus if caught between mags (assuming I dont have time to get the fresh mag in) id have to close the slide to muzzle thump someone but then im still left having to load and charge the pistol mid fight.

Just whatever you do carry light. It doesn't make sense to carry a big gun like just aim accurately in-staid of spraying and praying like a real firearm shooter

I think you are waaaay overthinking this. Don't carry a light on your concealed carry pistol unless you are likely to be in a situation where you might actually need it as a light.
If you are just concerned about having an additional defensive advantage on the pistol in case you are overpowered and the pistol is not ready to fire, just carry it with one of these:https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1978319879
Or you can hire a trainer to work with you in close contact situations.
