If the Old Testament is debunked, does that show Christianity to be wrong?

Update:

In reference to this question: https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20200...

The asker suggested that showing that the OT is incorrect has no effect on the NT's teachings and effective Christians completely ignore the OT.

    Sure. Basic argument against evolution.

If evolution is true, the book of Genesis is false.

Adam and Eve never existed, they never sinned, never fell from Eden. No sin, means there is no need for a redeemer, which make Jesus nobody special. No free trip to heaven. Makes the shabang pointless.

You are Clever. The Bible was and is composed of: Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew and Latin. These were the Christians, along with the nations that also simply BELIEVED..

Nope. Jesus Christ clearly demonstrated that He was God, by constantly doing things only God could do. That would be true even if the Old Testament never existed.

You should ignore the NT as well. The romans have probably been making a mint off your family's labor for centuries now. The NT is just as nonsensical, but hey, at least we moved away from the misogyny, rape, and baby murder. God is love, yay.

That dude is probably one of the culty fringe branches of christianity in amur'ca. They typically don't follow the whole mythology, and instead have an unhealthy fascination with jesus that borders on creepy. The largest group (that makes them the 'real christians', right?), catholicism, usually goes by both. They like to point out how conveniently their 'great minds' managed to fit jerusalem folk lore in the jewish narrative.

Without the OT, the NT is bad fanfiction.

    Which part?

It's all been debunked by default anyway cos

There is NO verifiable evidence any god exists.

  • Whether the OT is right or wrong, it disproves the NT.

Isaiah 1 has God demand us to be righteous instead of giving him sacrifices. This is impossible in Christianity.

"Wherefore the law was our Schoolmaster to bring us UNTO Christ, that we might be justified by faith [That we don't already have.]

But after THAT FAITH is come [That is a "Spiritual gift" I Corinthians 12:9; received AFTER Holy Spirit baptism; I Corinthians 12:13] we are no longer under a Schoolmaster" (Galatians 3:23-24)!

Therefore "Heaven and earth will pass away but My Words shall not pass away" (Matthew 14:35)!

It's irrelevant. The OT can't be debunked. It's a collection of cultural literature. At best, you can debunk our understanding of it. You aren't going to show at this point that the book of Exodus was written in the 1600s A.D. or something like that.
