If the North was so excited to fight the south in the Civil war..then why have a draft for it?

The north was having trouble drumming-up support for the Civil War so they made-up the rumor about the war being caused by slavery .......Worked.

You have a battle, x amount die... all wonderful to have conscripts but you can't just throw them in, they do need to be trained.

Demand for replacement exceeded logistics, so get more.

NYC announced they were gonna have conscription for the civil war

that lead to the draft riots in NYC, where they tried to kill every black person in NYC

they even went so far as to try and burn down a Black orphanage with 400 children inside, luckily the army got there fast enough to save the children

the democrats in NYC were no different than the democrats in the south-- just evil people, then and now.

Many will overlook the New York Draft Riots or the Union recruiting Irish immigrants off the boat!

I DEFY you to cite a reliable source the there was a draft anywhere close to the start of that war.

I've literally heard conservatives call it "The War of Northern Aggression."
