Mechanic help?
I am thinking of buying a car at an auction. It is a ram 1500 2014 SL and I checked it in person. Everything was good but it had a check engine light and a missfire. The only code it has is a p0303 and I couldn't switch injectors or spark plugs since its an auction car. They don't let you work on it of course so I wanted to know if I buy this car, with only a 3rd cylinder missfire, what is the worst outcome it could possibly be costing the most money? If its a bent valve or the piston rings are worn etc then getting the car for 13k and paying 7k in repairs would of course not be worth it. I am hoping tho since it only has a p0303 code it wouldnt be that bad but does anyone know? Thanks

If you have to ask, YOU shouldn't be bidding on auction vehicles. The PROS will bid as much as it is worth. If you win the auction, you OVERPAID.

It is at the auction for a reason. Trust us, you do not want to find out why it is at the auction.
My buddy the rodeo cowboy once told me, "I can get you a good cutting horse for $3000, but if you see I have a horse at the auction, don't buy it! I sent that horse to the auction for a reason."

Piston rings could be shot. You might need a new engine to fix the car. A dealer would have changed the coil and/or injector if those were the only issues and resell the car again. And without driving the truck, you will never know if the transmission is good. I say PASS.
