how to keep microwave clean from mac and cheese goop?

whenever i heat up mac and cheese in my microwave, the water always overflows and it's gooey and gross and really hard to clean once it dries. i put a towel under it while cooking once, but then i had to extensively wash the towel, and it just wasn't worth it. i need something to put under my mac and cheese cup that will soak up all the nasty goo and be able to last 3 and a half minutes in the microwave without catching on fire. help pls, i really like eating mac and cheese.

Any or all of the following:

1.Put the food in a larger microwave-safe bowel or casserole dish before heating.

    2. Put the contain on a large plate or inside a larger pyrex-type bowl or casserole dish.

    3. Put paper towel, wax paper, and or parchment paper under the container.  Then throw it away.

How about using a larger container to cook it in?

Put the cup on a plate.  The plate can easily be washed. Plates will not catch on fire. If you do not want to wash 1 plate, use a paper plate and dispose of it.

You could put your mac and cheese cup inside a wider dish so the dish will catch the water when it overflows
