We were in honors English together in August 1971. We were both commuter students. She never lived in a dormitory. That was the only class we had together
She approached me after class that first week. Something just. "clicked." We were both big Star Trek original series fans. She became an M.D and neurologist. She saved my life long distance more than 10 years ago. When my father died she adopted me into her family. She's the only "family" I've had for the last 24 years. 49 years and counting.

Not call them my best friend but they're my close friends I made in college. Starting as roommates

We were assigned together as roommates freshman year. We exchanged letters the summer before we got to college and just connected immediately once we got to college. We roomed together throughout college and remain close friends today.

I met two individuals who remained good friends through college and well beyond in the TV lounge of a dorm. It was the first week of freshmen orientation and we were all hanging out doing something familiar in the evening--watching television. We got to chatting and gradually became good friends in the following weeks. One of them became my roommate and off-campus apartment mate in the following years, and we still exchange emails to this day. The other remaining a close friend until his untimely death some years ago.

With one, we had a class together, and started talking and walking back to the dorms after class. I don't remember who addressed the other first- probably one of us asked the other a question about the class. Two other friends live in my dorm. I think we bonded over playing bridge.
