Water flows from the bottom of a storage tank at a rate of r(t) = 400 − 8t liters per minute, where 0 ≤ t ≤ 50.?

 Find the amount of water that flows from the tank during the first 30 minutes.

    r(t) = 400 − 8t

    amount = ∫r dt = ∫(400 − 8t) dt      between 0 and 30

    amount = 400t – 4t²      between 0 and 30

    amount = 400•30 – 4•30² – 0

    amount = 12000 – 4•900

    amount = 12000 – 3600

    amount = 8400 L
