    By following the facts.

Facts are the single and only path to the truth.  Without all the facts, no truth is possible.

Facts tell us if it is true, and/or reliable every time, when nothing else will do.

    Pretty simple.

If I stop believing in something, and it still exists - it's real.

If it requires suspending my disbelief, or otherwise accepting it on 'faith' - it's fake.

Does it matter? If you believe it's true, it's true for you.

Jesus said God's word is truth - John 17:17 - Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth.  - - - -  But we must prove things to ourselves to believe it is truth - God's Word encourages us to examine the Scriptures personally, saying at Romans 12:2 - “Prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  - - - -  And God wants everyone to take in accurate knowledge - 1 Timothy 2:4 – whose (God’s) will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.  - - - -  If the Creator of the universe wants us to have accurate knowledge, isn't it reasonable to believe that he can reveal the truth to us from his word?  That is one reason we should approach him in prayer - Psalm 65:2 - O Hearer of prayer, to you people of all sorts will come.  - - - -  And he tells us to examine his word carefully - Acts 17:11 . . . carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.  - - - -  We need to examine the Scriptures carefully for ourselves to make sure we are not receiving twisted information - 2 Peter 3:16. . . and these things the ignorant and unstable are twisting, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.  - - - -  God has preserved his word in such a way, that when we approach him in prayer and then examine his word carefully, we actually gain faith that it is really the truth.  That is, accurate knowledge that we can put faith in.  As this Scripture says about faith in God's word - Hebrews 11:1 - Faith is the assured expectation of what is hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities that are not seen.  - - - -  Faith in God's word is based on solid, convincing evidence.  As the phrases in that Scripture indicate - "assured expectation", "evident demonstration", "realities".  It is not unreasonable to put faith in things we cannot see.  We know that the wind exists, because of the evidence of it's existence.  We believe in electricity.  Even though we cannot see it, unless there is a spark, or a strike of lightening.  There are many things that we believe in, even though we cannot see them.  Likewise with God's word.  We can examine it carefully and see that God provides much evidence for us to put faith in.  So with that in mind, I invite you to visit the following web site where free Bible lessons are offered online.  But ALWAYS examine the Scriptures carefully for yourself.  The site is:

The very first thing I do is to consider who is claiming that they are speaking the truth. If that person or whoever has a history of misleading or misrepresenting the facts ( which is important to research on your own) then I don't usually take anything that is said as fact because they don't have any credibility in my opinion.

The Bible is true, and whatever contradicts it, isn't.  Here is the truth:  The Lord Jesus Christ is God.  Death leads to immediate heaven or hell. The only way to have eternal life, the only way to be in heaven and avoid hell, is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ (John 6:47).  It is that simple and that easy.  It is too late to be saved after death.  Jesus is God and Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus was buried, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).  The Lord Jesus Christ paid for our sins with His death and blood.  Nothing else pays for our sins, not works from us or anything else.  You cannot add any works to getting into heaven (Romans 4:5).

Usually, I consider any fact or information that matches known reality as “truth”.

There are some few ideas that can only be surmised Logically, existentially or philosophically that I consider most likely true, or at least reasonable.

Of course, extensive reading, study and a basic education are required to accomplish either.
