Is collision coverage worth keeping?
I have a 2007 Chevy Impala with 101,000 miles. Kelley Blue book said it has a value of $4,200 but that seems high. The car will be paid off in a month. For a car this age should I drop collision coverage?

Can you replace the car if you total it?

I would drop collision but it is up to you and your income, assets and risk tolerance

It's probably not worth keeping, but it depends on the deductible and the premium.

It depends on if you have an at fault accident or a hit and run can you come up with $4,200 to buy another car. Some people can and some people cannot. Take a lower deductible at $500. Personally I suggest keeping the comprehensive and collision. But what is right for you depends on what you want or are comfortable with.

My general rule is don't buy collision and comprehensive coverage when the value drops below $5,000. If you have a total loss and a $1,000 deductible, you should be able to withstand a $4,000 loss.

You have a 13-14 year old car you're still making payments on?
Ask your insurance company, or look at your insurance invoices, how much the coverage costs. If it's like mine, the additional costs is minimal as the vehicle ages and it is worth less money.
