How do I stop being spiteful to people that approach me?

No one wanted to be my friend when I was ugly but now since I have done facial reconstruction and am more attractive, people approach me. I hate those that approach me now because I know that they would never approach me if I was ugly. How do I stop my urge to harm them?

You have to unlearn that particular response.  Take a breath and accept the new you.  I know it's shallow, but outward appearance and body language are all anyone has to go on before they get to know someone.  We make choices every day based upon initial impressions.  We use past experiences to make judgments every day.

It's not malicious nor ill intended.  Of course it's painful to be rejected on any level, but unfortunately some will take the time to look beyond the exterior and get to know a person and others will not take the time or expend the effort.

This says way more about them than it does about you.  Stay strong.  Enjoy your new found attention.  Remember what it was like and use your empathy on those who don't have more people taking the time to get to know them.

    Best of luck to you.
