What's the point of living, when everything is terrible?

the people are terrible, we treat eachother like garbage. We reject people we don't find attractive. The rich gets richer, and poor poorer. We spend out entire lives slaving away at a job just to earn money to feed ourselves and have a roof over our heads. Some people are homeless, and there's no going back for them. People kill eachother over money. The planet is over populated, we torture kill animals like they have no feelings and treat them beneath us.

This is as bad as I've ever seen it and I'm 63. And yet, remember the crash of 1929. People lost jobs and there was no unemployment back then. Back then there were people killing themselves but most people didn't and things got better. Things always get better.

Things are going to get better even if they seem hopeless. For example, Mandela spent 27 years in prison. He stayed strong and was released and became president of his country and did a lot of good and had a great and happy life because he stayed alive. I know of someone who was severely depressed for many years and was able to recover and live a happy life. There was a time I felt hopeless and miserable but now I am very happy I decided to stay alive..

Just stick to the idea of nursing and live to help other people who are suffering much worse. There's always hope while there is a sunrise.

I am positive that many slaves and ordinary Roman citizens said the exact thing during their times when Ancient Rome was ruled by emperors, dictators, and despots.

The true meaning of human life is.... Self Realization. Love /hate, Good/evil, happiness/sorrow, positive/ negative, virtue/sin, soul/ body, heaven /hell.. are the creations of God.... So, by pure faith in God we can understand our eternal nature... which relates to our soul as our soul is the Part and Parcel of.... Supreme Soul...."God" ... Actually, we are spiritual souls but we are in human body. We are from the spiritual world. God has sent us on the earth...only for self realization.. as our souls are not as pure as, they have to be... So, God has given us human life where our body feels happiness as well as suffers pain. Therefore, we souls are here... to achieve... the level of purity and to become pure soul.... we should make an effort to understand the deeper meaning of unconditional love for all living beings.... in every situation...

Moreover, the eternal nature of our soul is to Love God...

For those getting richer its a good place. And you should have a lot of defense mechanisms to prevent you from seeing this. And a lot of rich people started poor.

with your kind permission, it sounds to me - unfortunately- you just see / perceive what you want/ are capable to clearly see.... and it's not all about your being  right or wrong at stating the above, cause you're  clearly right...by means of facts.

BUT...  this is NOT the whole story...definitely not....

life is much more than the misery you listed above...

life is, also, about love and friendship and human kindness  in a world plagued by our being selfish, greedy, intolerant... whatever....

life is, also , about babies' smiles in a world where and when- now, the lofty words of the late  great German  poet Johann  Wolfgang Goethe clearly apply:'' if in this world there were  as many flowers as a child's eyes can encircle/ comprehend - then we'd be afraid/ loath of setting  so many wars''...

even in such a complex world - it humbly sounds   to me that one's giving up is giving up on a many- splendor thing( such as love, nature's beauties, flowers , friendship  etc. etc.)

and this sounds to me rather  unwise...yes
