Why do black objects emit and absorb more radiation as compared to e.g. a white object? ?

    It is defined differently for passive objects ....

    Those objects which absorb all of the visible radiation appear black to us

    Those objects which radiate all of the visible radiation appear white to us

    Similarly...

    Those objects which absorb all of the visible radiation except red appear red to us

    Those objects which absorb all of the visible radiation except blue appear blue to us

    and so on......

    Black Bodies emit and absorb all frequencies, they reflect none.
