Can I still use a jet wash if the water is weak or would that damage the machine?
The water from my family hose pipe comes out with minimum pressure like you get in a tap it doesn't splash back

You can. The pump raises the water to the necessary pressure. If the water pressure is not enough to keep it fed, the high pressure water will cut off until enough water is in the pressure vessel. You get the same problem if the feed hose is kinked.
