I don't think so. When Marciano Retired, Patterson was a year away from challenging for the title. Their careers unfortunately just never crossed paths. I do think Marciano would have won a fight between the 2.

No not at all. I think he feared not hurting him. Marciano retired and never returned. He would have defeated Floyd easily and violently. It may have been similar to the Sonny Liston fights for Floyd. Floyd would have been a great lightheavyweight but he never was a true heavyweight. Marciano to strong and powerful even past his prime defeats Floyd.
