Gestational diabetes does not increase the risks of diabetes later in life.It is extremly rare for any baby to be born with diabetes.

People can be born with type 1 no insulin never type 2 diabetes ( type 2 is food choices and BMI) family history plays a role in both types. Having pregnancy diabetes can lead to health problems by baby growing too large in the whom adding to birthing complications and drop in blood sugar of new born when conceived this is why diet is important in controlling carbs while pregnant with this condition. As far as predicted future of baby getting diabetes later in life doubtful but anything is possible but don't think it would be because of your reason in thinking but diet, exercise choices in life

Women who suffer gestational diabetes and their babies are at a higher risk of developing Type II later in life.
