is it wrong for a white belt in Jiu Jitsu to wear a colored gi?

I get the vibe that it's a little too flashy for a white belt to wear a colored gi in BJJ but Im not sure if that's true or just in my head

    It is jujutsu, if you are interested in a lesson in romanization. Not trying to be a dick, but Japanese is my second language, so I try to get my romanization correct. Both Hepburn and Monbusho romanization systems agree on jujutsu as correct.
