Well, maybe "no one here likes same sex dating" means that your girlfriend got tired of being judged by small-minded people, but it can't mean that there aren't LGBTQ people other than yourself, who would very much enjoy same-sex dating. If you believe your town is so conservative that no one dares come out of the closet and be seen as part of a same sex couple, then your choice is to become an activist who works to change minds or leave for a more tolerant place. San Francisco became a gay rights mecca for a reason.
