Selected word choice?
Below is a sentence where the word "which" or "that" forms a complete sentence.
However, I am not sure which one is proper for the English language.
Example:
A loud scream wails from Enterprise as a bright green aura exits the circumference of its hull, which illuminates the quadrant.
or
A loud scream wails from Enterprise as a bright green aura exits the circumference of its hull that illuminates the quadrant.
--
The two examples seem to sound correct, but only one is more accurate.
Please, determine what sentence would be more proper via the English language.
Expand on your reason for selecting one in reference to the other.
Thank you in advance.

The better choice is "A loud scream wails from Enterprise as a bright green aura exits the circumference of its hull, which illuminates the quadrant." This states that it's the the green aura exits the hull and illuminates the quadrant.
"A loud scream wails from Enterprise as a bright green aura exits the circumference of its hull that illuminates the quadrant." This suggests that there may be more than one hull, and the green aura is coming from one of them. Which hull? "That" one, the one which illuminates the quadrant. As a rule, use "that" when you want to specify or imply that there may be more than one of something. Use "which" if you're just describing something.
