Hardcore will show 100% sex scenes. While softcore will looks as normal movie but in between there will be sex scenes.

Hardcore- Shows penetration and longer scenes

Softcore- No penetration and shorter scenes 

Hardcore included views of Penetrations and briefly front/back nudity for prolong angles.

On the other hand, Softcore includes no angle of penetration and no lengthy scenes where front genitals visible.

A lot of people will say that the key line is whether it shows penetration or not.  Softcore tends to have more interest in character and setup and mood.  Hardcore is more about the act.

But I think when people use the term, they mean something different.  "Hardcore" in casual parlance implies people doing things outside the norm.  Ie fetish stuff or posteriors or something.  I don't think that's technically accurate, but it is how I hear people use it.

Hardcore porn is more rough and raw, it’s based on animal instincts.  While softcore porn is more erotic and sensual.
