If I got a speeding ticket in February, can they keep delaying it?

I got a speeding ticket this February for going 18 over and I’ve gotten over 5 notices delaying my court date. Finally I got another today and it says the court date is in March. That’s over a year from my original ticket date. My question is are they allowed to keep delaying it? What happened to my right to a speedy trial? What’s the best way to get this ticket thrown out?

The opening text of the Sixth Amendment is "In all criminal prosecutions". A speeding ticket is a traffic infraction, so your right to a speedy trial does not apply.

What is the best way to get it thrown out? Prove you weren't speeding.

The best way to get it thrown out is to ADMIT you were speeding and pay the fine.

You have no right to a speedy trial.  Speeding isn't a criminal act.

Retain legal counsel and have him/her push the issue of "speedy trial."

Can the fine possibly be enough to make it worth fighting?  The best way to make the problem go away is to pay the fine.
