Being poly means that everyone is in the relationship. An "open relationship" means having sex with other people, but generally without commitment or bringing any partner into the primary relationship. Some "open" couples also have rules such as not wanting to know or see or meet anyone their partner is sleeping with, whereas if you're poly everyone is in the relationships, consents to everything and everyone gets a say, and there are no secrets.
Also "Hello, Hey" is confusing polygamy with polyamory. Polygamy is where one man has multiple wives and he has sex with all of them, but there is a distinct hierarchy dictating that the man is in charge. Women in polygamous relationships are not considered equal to men. Polyamory can also include multiple women, but the women usually also have relationships with each other (or men have relationships with each other if there are multiple men), and all partner's voices matter and carry weight. There is FAR more consent and communication involved, rather than the lone male husband making all the decisions and expecting the women to obey him.
