Reissues.  Opinions?

So we are coming up to Xmas and the classic album reissues are already upon us.  The Stones put out 'Goats Head Soup' last week, next week is Prince and U2 are giving 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' the box set treatment next month.

What do you think of these legacy albums constantly getting repackaged every 10 or 20 years, buying them all over again just to get a few bonus tracks?

Just curious.  Thanx!

Update:

BQ: Favourite reissue?

BQ2: Least favourite?

If I already own the originals, I would most likely not buy the reissues. The one exception was a CD of Sticky Fingers with a real zipper on the cover, just like the original LP version of the album issued in the 1970s. I already owned a CD of Sticky Fingers but I bought the one with the zipper because it was cute.

Just another scam to get people to buy more.  Not drastically different from the stunts played by N.American record companies in the 1960's.  Both The Beatles & The Rolling Stones (& probably others) had many of their releases pared of 2-4 tracks.  It was then the norm that albums released in the U.K. had 14 tracks.  Our versions of those albums commonly had only 11 or 12 tracks.  They then used the extra tracks & single or extended-player releases to create artificial albums.  We never knew of this at the time.  They got away with it until c. 1977.  It's all about greed.

Rarely, I save it for my top favorites. Latest (this year) and BQ:

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia - 4 CD Deluxe Edition

    BQ2

Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F. Revisited

The original is a raw and crappy recording, but it rocks like mofo! Attempts to clean it up just didn't work.
