How did Youtube Collect Data on Kids?
I kinda got over everything with Coppa..........Except the Miniplayer. The no mini player is annoying. LIKE REALLY ANNOYING. Everything else is fine. However I just wondered How would youtube get kid's data? Do these kids lie about their age? Or are they using their parents youtube accounts? If the parents have accounts why cant they just sign out. I have a simple solution There should be an easy option on the main page of youtube with "FAMILY MODE" and it's just like a switch. Yes means COPPA Effects will apply no means COPPA Effects will not apply.

but the kids can just switch it off and watch everything.
kids are not logged in, because you have to be over 13 to have a YT account.
not sure what you mean by the miniplayer, but the key thing with Coppa was advertising to kids. that is illegal, as the ads track usage and page visits (advertising is evil, in case you didn't get the memo).
no tracking means no ads, means no ad revenue.
it's no big deal. just login. then you have full access (and ads).

COPPA applies only if the kids DON'T lie about their age, OR the content is directed at children. COPPA means that if the user creates an account with a specified birthdate that puts them below a certain age, then you cannot ask them certain additional questions, or store certain additional information, INCLUDING ad preferences.

That's just ******* stupid. What stops the kid from turning it off again, or turning it on and locking their parent out of content?
The real question is why, if you're not a child or a parent, you would even notice any COPPA changes at all. Why is someone who is not a child watching enough child-directed content to even notice the disabled miniplayer, let alone get annoyed by it?
