Hello kitty alarm clock projector not working? Help?

I've had this alarm clock for years. It's hello kitty she's holding a heart and it has a projection feature. It used to work all the time, then for the longest time it would no longer work. It randomly turned on and started to work again a couple weeks ago and is now back to no longer working. I can see the red light when i look at the projector itself but it isn't projecting on the ceiling. The part of the clock that shows the time normally is still working just fine.

I'm really sad it's not working and i would really love to fix it if I can. Does anyone know what's wrong or how I could fix it? Because its too dim (I think) to project I would assume it's a problem with the light or maybe the battery but I have no idea. I wasn't super sure if replacing the battery would do anything considering a dead battery would also affect the regular clock (I think?) and that parts completely fine, it's just the projector that's not working 

This is my favorite alarm clock and any help to fix it's projector would be so greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!
