Do  "Normal " people and people with Developmental and other  disabilities feel that  people with disabilities should be treated equally.?

 I am developmentally disabled from birth, and live in  Colorado, and have a legal guardian who just happens to be my mother, I have never been in legal trouble as an adult, but she mentally abuses and treats me like I am a child and not a forty year old man, just because I have different life views from hers. is this Morally, and legally acceptable
