Should I vote early?
I live in a city that has about 14,000 people, but most of that is people from out in the country. I won't say who I'm voting for because I don't want to start arguments here, but my city usually always votes a certain way and I'm always voting the opposite.
Anyway, my mother and I are both considered high risk (my mother is 71, diabetic, with a mild case of asthma while I'm 31 and have always had horrible asthma since I've been 2). We want to vote in person because we don't trust mail in voting. I bought a cardigan a few months ago from Kohl's and what usually takes a week to ship out, took over a month to get. Because of that, I'm a little afraid about a ballot. So my mom and I decided to do it in person.
Typically, we vote on election day and there is usually only about 3-4 people in line, but this year I'm not so sure. I am wondering if it would be better to wait until election day like we typically do or if it would be safer to vote early? Regardless of Covid and my fears of it, we're still voting.
I vote opposite of my community because I have very different opinions than everyone else. My mother votes the same way as me. We just believe in certain things and aren't going to vote a certain way because that is what the majority of the community does.

Yes, but not the first day. The first and last day will probably have the longest lines. It will probably be less crowded in the middle.

If you live in an area that permits no excuse, in person, early voting and you can do there when the lines are not too long, it is better to vote early and not have to worry about lines and weather on November 3.
The security against fraud for early voting is substantially the same as for election day voting; so the only reason to delay is being undecided.

Vote early and vote often could be the mantra of both parties! Lol I jest!
In all seriousness at first I was apprehensive about this, just because of the sheer fact that it being SO early before the election when I voted, I felt there was too long a time for nefarious people to commit fraud with it.
Then I received a postcard in the mail detailing my locality’s plan for actual Election Day Nov. 2nd. It is a mess in my opinion. Instead of going to your usual precinct they are having everyone go to the same place and diff. precincts go to different rooms. I felt my stomach lurch and thought about crowded places, standing around in a line with thousands if others for hours, unclear whether they’d all wear masks, distance, etc.
So I thought about work and the people I work with and my own personal health and I though screw it, I’ll just vote early. So that’s what I did. When I voted it was exactly like election day, I just went and did it at the registrar instead of my precinct. We still use the pen-in ballot, then you feed it into a machine when you’re done and it scans, records, then shreds the ballot. So I’d say it’s pretty hard to commit fraud with that one.
Hope this helps you!

You and your mom remind me of Thelma & Louise. Two rebel women out on the open road.
