What do you think of the girls' name Blythe?

I've always thought it was really pretty. I especially like it as a middle name, I've always liked the name combinations Emmeline Blythe (I like Emmeline best with the Lean ending not the Line ending. But I sounded them both out and the both sound okay with Blythe, so I guess it's just preference.)  or Evangeline Blythe

What would you rate these two combos?

What name combinations do you like with Blythe?

I like it for a middle name too.

I agree emma-lean is better than emma-line. Both Emmaline and Evangeline work imo but I prefer Emmaline Blythe.

    I like Evalyn Blythe - evah-lin not eeva-lin.

There is a Scottish actress named 'Blythe Duff'. She played the murder/mystery series 'Taggart'.

If you like the "lean" sound over the "line" sound, then spell it "lene".

The name Blythe sounds male to me, not female. And yes  better for a middle name, for sure.

It's not used much but is fine for a girl.

    Emmeline Blythe - 0

    Evangeline Blythe - 6

I actually really like Blythe as a middle name - it's okay as a first name. 'Emmeline' is one of my least favourite names... it's drives me crazy and annoys me. I think I just find it really pretentious or something? Emma and Emily are two of my favourites, but Emmeline makes me want to rip my head off. It's trendy-common too. Evangeline is much more solid, but still not a personal favourite. I do think it is way way better though.

It's really old fashioned and it's very pretty.  I'd probably consider it as a middle name but not as a first because it's so close to blight.

Reminds me of a thing my mother used to say when I was very young: "Bonnie and Blythe and full of Grace".

Most of us are not called by our first and middles names. I would not get too hung up on the two names you pick going together.

You got to think of school and what she will really be called. Evangeline could end up being called Evie by friends.

I love the name Blythe and considered it for my daughter.

It's very British and a wee bit stodgy IMO.

    P.S.   To Prince...it's Bonnie and blithe...NOT Blythe.

What you like is surely less important than what the child will like while growing up. How all the initials look together, for example? Will people be constantly asking her to spell it for forms, etc. when she is older? Will she get teased for having a silly name?
