My LG TV is connected to wifi even when turned off, what do?
my lg tv 2018 smart is connected to wifi even when turned off, what do?
this is really a pain in the arsenal as my wifi hotspot can only accommodate 10 devices, so I cannot connect any additional device to it because lg tv is the 10th device. this also takes a toll on my smartphone

There is something fundamentally wrong with
having more than five devices that use wifi.

Plug your LG TV into a power strip and when you want to turn it off, cut the power.
How in the f**k was that hard?

I hear you! We also got an LG this June, and there are quite a few wi-fi devices in the house, like many people. Even when the TV is OFF - my apps that monitor for intruders to my wifi show it as active! I think it might be the fancy infra-red (no sure) remote; if we are watching TV, and one of us even bumps the coffee table upon which the mouse is lying - the red marker shows on the TV. We cannot watch something on TV, and simultaneously look at IMDB to read the plot, without the phone slowing down *iPhone 8+). And that happens even if we are not using THAT remote - the TV is connected to a big 5-speaker sound system, the usual boxes as well, and a dedicated new/small computer, for watching things available there, and using the OTHER 2 remotes. If you shot everything off - all three main devices - then about 40 seconds later, one of the boxes turns on by itself, like Casper is in the room. We are decent at all this stuff, and our son has a MM degree in digital music and recording tech, and he set it all up for us - and he lives 4 hours away. He also has no answer - we have to wait until he can drive from PA to NY without quarantining If any of the things in OUR setup ring a bell with you - or any of the responders - I will be thrilled to know!

To those who advocate cutting the power via strip, etc - this will often enter a set up mode of sorts that causes reboot of your provider connection, etc. Does not sound like it would - but these devious critters communicate behind our backs.

Make sure the TV is actually off, and not just in standby/sleep mode. None of my Wi-Fi enabled devices show as connected, when actually turned off, if Wi-Fi on that device is turned off.
Also make sure that all devices ARE NOT set to auto connect to Wi-Fi. This may very well be the reason any device reconnects, after it has been disconnected, especially if the devices wakes when a connected Bluetooth/Infrared accessories, are bumped or touched, which tells you it is in sleep or standby, rather than OFF.
