Why does my phone say emergency calls only when placing a call ?

I have an lg stylo 6 with boost mobile and trying to make a call or send a text and I am unable to do that . The sim is correctly placed and I tried turning off and on , still won't work 

Update:

Forgot to mention my bill isn't due until the 17th . I got couple days left

    You are either out of your service area, the closest tower is down or you haven't paid for service this month.

    At least they're not leaving you totally helpless. Double check that you're paid up and/or have minutes left on your account.
