Don't be a police officer in any democrat states or areas that is just a good way to go to jail for doing nothing wrong.

There are different requirements in various departments.  In Dallas, TX, for example, a person who applies to the academy must have either 45 college hrs. (passed) or have served two years in the military with an honorable discharge.  In Plano, TX, a college degree is required of officers.  In smaller towns, a person can have a high school diploma.  No applicant anywhere can have a felony conviction on record.  If you're in CA, check around to see what a particular department would require of you.  If you want to finish college before applying, then you might want to consider a degree in criminal justice, psychology, or something similar.  You also have to be in excellent physical condition and mentally stable.  You would be tested on these qualities before being allowed to enter a police academy.

The police academy tells you how long their program is, not the other way around.  You might want to study "criminal justice" in college.

I have NO idea what the "California states" are.  California is, of course, a State, but there is no such thing as "California states."

The Police Academy is six months.  The State Troopers only hire college graduates.

You need to pass an exam to get into the Police Academy.  Good luck.

It'd be great if all cops were university grads but that isn't generally the case in the US. My local Police Academy (LAPD) requires only six months of training. Many argue that this isn't nearly enough.

You CAN'T spend years in the police academy.

California is A state, not states.

You need to complete 4th grade first.

a BA in psychology might be useful, yes.  Criminal Justice degree might help you get started with the material.  different cities have different requirements [some even run own academy] -- and you likely need a sponsoring police agency to get an appointment -- start looking
