Think about the area, how the people live there, how buildings are constructed, the land and the infrastructure.
Buildings that are made of wood without concrete foundations would be smashed by a big wave.
If the fresh water for people to drink comes from wells it would be contaminated by sea water.
High density population (such as is found in India and other countries in that region) means more people affected by an event.
So pick something that you can research (like how power or water or roads are maintained in the area) and think about what would happen if it was destroyed.
You have to do some research of course.
