Why do people seem to think Proud Boys are white supremacists?

Because news outlets are all run by liberal shepherds, and because they always shoot for the lowest common denominator.

The proud guys are definitely weird, and they've openly stated that they're chauvinists who hate liberals, but they never made any claims to be white anything.  They're also completely against masturbation, which just adds to their list of weird even further.

But news outlets don't like complicated things, because it's really hard to fit complicated things into headlines and sound-bites, so they just label them as white supremacist because it's easy and sensationalistic.  

It's called fake news and disinformation by the left.

It's like fake covid numbers and the myth Trumpers are all nazis and kkk.

Because they're idiots who blindly accept what they're told. The proud boys isn't a white supremacist group. It is a pro American patriot group. As one person here correctly pointed out, Democrats call anyone they don't agree with a racist, white supremacist, sexist, and other terms to shut down discussion and to discourage individuals to look into people and groups that goes against the Democratic party's agenda.

“White supremacist” and “racist” are examples of words that leftists use instead of actually presenting evidence and reason behind their claims. The words are intended as a personal attack to shut down conversation and demonize the opposition. It’s propaganda, nothing more.

The media paints them out as a bunch of angry White men because it's easy then to dismiss them as White supremacists. They do the same with the Bugaloo Boys, who from what I can tell are a bunch of mostly White guys looking for some sort of camaraderie.
