It's interesting because the best stories come from history. That's because the best stories you just can't make up. You can tell a story is real, that it's history, when after hearing it, you immediately know that there's no way anybody could've made that up. Particularly good examples of this are the Wars of the Roses and the fall of the Roman Republic and rise of the Roman Empire (i.e., the rise and fall of Julius Caesar and the rise of Augustus Caesar, Julius Caesar's twin sister Julia's son, including the rise and fall of Cleopatra and continuing through the death of Caesarean, the son she had with Julius Caesar). So interesting and compelling and such rich fodder are these histories that Shakespeare, the most famous fiction writer of all time, took a break from making up his own plots to use both of these historical plots as the basis for his writing, because he knew that this was stuff even he couldn't make up.

I was born w/ an aptitude for it which means it's easy for me to learn. The more I learn the more curious I get and the cycle continues. But, I love trivia and played on one of the best teams in the central time zone until covid. I still watch a lot of trivia. Learning is fun.

It gives an idea of what has been and what is likely to come. A quasi-history book that I have recently been reading is, "Better Angels of our Nature," by Steven Pinker. It graphs and mathematically expresses how the world is getting better, projections are made about the future nature of mankind. It offers some hope.
