Car troubles?

My brakes are squealing when I back up, I went to get them looked at and the mechanic said they look fine and pads are still really thick or something. He said he isn’t too sure what may be causing them to squeal. Anybody have any clue?

Have the pads treated with anti squeal compound. Unless you commute backwards, the noise is minor- turn up the radio.

Cheap brake pads can make noise. Not replacing the rotors when pads are installed can cause noise from the small rust lip on the outer edges of the rotor.

Maybe the pads are too thick for the parking brake setting and after a few weeks the noise will go away because well the pads are getting center everyday

Brake squeal has no effect on braking efficiency. So you can relax and forget about it.

MOST TIMES:  you reverse after the car has been parked a while, and disc brake rotors can develop a bit of rust in a short time - even hours..........apply brakes when backing up disperses dirt that has been picked-up while driving and grunge accumulated in normal forward driving/braking.  Unless it is severe, don't worry about it.
