Originally tyres were made of vulcanised rubber.  That is the sap of the rubber tree hardened with sulphur and reinforced with graphite.  That is naturally black.  More recently, tyres have been made of butyl which is a hydrocarbon produced by the oil industry, reinforced with steel.  They continue to use a graphite filler so it looks the "right" colour.
