Hi everybody ! Can y’all help me understand what ( mean something ) in this definition mean ? ?
I’m trying to understand this definition , but don’t know what kind of ( Mean ) they are talking about . I’m not sure if they mean as in being serious or explanation . I need to understand what imply mean . Only with the definition they have provided tho thanks

intend to pass on the idea. I mean this, not that. this idea is the intended one, not something else. go look up the word "mean" and its definition as a verb (not the noun or adjective, only the verb).

"Mean" there is like trying to say what you think. Imply is like a hint, showing what you think about something without actually coming right out and saying it.
Steve said, "You look good today."
Nancy replied, "Are you implying that I don't always look good?
