They got you on the registration and the tags. As far as they are concerned, you stole the car.  I guess you are borrowing the bale of weed in the back too?

You wouldn't be arrested just for driving without a valid registration, you'd just receive a fine and the car would be towed & impounded.  Nobody gets arrested for a minor traffic violation.

If a cop gets within 50 feet of your vehicle, you'll be stopped.  Most police departments have licence plate scanners in their vehicles now, and they can scan any tag within 50 feet of their vehicle.  They don't care if the vehicle is yours or not, they'll stop you regardless.

Bill Engvall did a song about those who do such things:

Nah - they'll just issue you a crisp 'high five' and send you on your way.

A Pull over IS an Arrest. If you want Legal advice; Try Law and Ethics.  Or Call a Lawyer..

    U confuse  "arrest" with  "incarceration".

    Any Stop IS an Arrest.

Yes, they can. Possibly incarcerate, too, cops reserve that  right,  depending on their  suspicions.

Best to keep a permission slip in car. The registration, etc, is the Owner's responsibility. They Might impound it and leave you stranded. Might Incarcerate And tow.

Get owner to Pay the Fees. Then, No worries. Not rocket science.

Yes, and you will be charged with operating an unregistered vehicle.  The car is borrowed but you are responsible for ensuring that you are driving a registered, insured, and safe car.
