How do I get rid of ants?
In my bathroom, there's a bunch of ants. They look like they are coming from behind the mirror, I don't know how to get rid of them, we've tried a bug spray, we've tried pest control, nothing worked they just keep coming back. They are those black ants if that helps, not fire ants.

You want to get rid of them then you have to put up with them for the next 14 days. Sprinkle a mixture of DRY POWDER icing sugar and baking soda. into say a tablespoon half and half. stir with a toothpick so the white is mixed. Icing sugar is slightly sticky so it will stick to the baking soda. The ants you see are the workers. They do not eat however they can taste. They taste sugar and will haul that combi crystal(sugar+ baking soda) back to their QUEEN. She is the nest as her only job is to pop out babies who turn into workers. She is way deep in there. She never sees the light of day. But all the worker ants know where she is and she gets the food to eat to make more workers. She can't sense baking soda either. So she eats both the sugar and the BS. the stomach of an ant is acid and when baking soda hits acid it FIZZES . An ants body is a solid rigid structure so the fizzing causes expansion and the queen EXPLODES. That is the end of the nest. The workers do not eat as they self absorb themselves eating themselves until they die(2 weeks) A Queen could live for 4 years. She can have 50,000 babies a year. All worker ants, all seekers of food.
What you do is sprinkle the mixture (pinch it between your finger and thumb) so you don't need much and just leave it where you see the ants walk and LEAVE IT ALONE. THEY will pick it up as they find it and take it back to the nest. It is a safe poison as you bake with baking soda and sugar. Your tummy can expand because you are flexible. It works on tiny black ants "sugar ants" When they lose their queen, there is no replacement. So nest dies off. Totally safe. Totally effective. Really cheap. Essentially free for most people have baking soda and icing sugar(or really fine sugar)
How important is the queen? She gives out instructions to all the workers each day so after she dies there is nothing holding the nest together as every ant does not know what it is suppose to do. So they scatter. Or die waiting for the dole check to come in.

Use a gel ant killer. And out it right where you see them coming in.
Do NOT spray while using this. The gel is taken back to the nest and kills off multiple ants.
This takes some time.just keep using the ant gel.
I get ants almost every summer. This is the only thing that gets rid of them.

Please wipe them up with a solution of 50-50 vinegar and water, or straight vinegar.

I use ant chalk! One can watch the ants begin to die right after they walk across a chalk line. This product works so well, that one stick will last you a couple of years!

I used to have horrible ants at a house I lived in. What I found best was the Terro *Liquid* ant traps. The ants love this stuff. Put one as close to where they're coming in as you can because it will attract more. Leave it there until the ant trail stops. If they clean it out, put another one out. Those ants are taking it back to the queen and taking out the hive. Then clean up the ants and trail. It may take a couple days. Eventually, and that could be a few months or a few years, you will see scouts again. Kill the scouts and wipe down their trails, but be prepared to have to use the other system again.
Don't use sprays that spot kill. Don't use gels which are spot treatments as well. I've never had any luck with anything other than Terro.

Carpenter ants, you need baits or a professional. I have had a lot of success with combat gel and max force gel. Watch the ants, figure out their most used paths, that is where you put the bait. You'll see increased activity for a few days, then they will be gone.
