    COVID-19 is the excuse.  Surveillance in the guise of "safety" as most people wouldn't agree to overt Stasi style mass surveillance.

    The rise of the surveillance 'state' and the rise of Covid 19 are merely coincidental.  There was a heavy rise in camera installs and other surveillance leading up to Covid, not because of it.
