Suppose that two objects attract each other with a gravitational force of 20 units. If the distance between the two

objects is doubled, what is the new force of attraction between the two objects?

    20 = k/d^2

    F' = k/(2d)^2 = k/4d^2 = 20/4 = 5 units

    Since force goes like 1/r^2, if you double r the force decreases by 1/(2)^2 = 1/4
