    4) Potential energy is transformed into thermal energy.

    Part of potential energy was already transformed into kinetic energy while skier was accelerating down the slope.

    Once the skier continued to move with a constant speed, kinetic energy is constant and the rest of potential energy is transformed into thermal energy. (through friction)
