How  to apply weed killer without spraying?

Could a paint roller be used to apply weed killer to a lawn without the liquid leaving the roller to quick?

    easy lightly , get a stick with a rag and just to the weed .

    Use a watering can with a fine rose (sprinkler).

    Why??? Just spray when there is no wind blowing. Also get very close to what you want to kill and use the jet stream on the sprayer.
