Holidays, increased online shopping, covid-19, winter weather.
If you want something sent faster, pay for faster service.

Really? Deteriorating service? In the last month, the service I have received has been excellent, far better than I expected given that the post office has been dealing with the biggest volume of parcels it's had in years, with covid restrictions within the workplace, and the usual bad weather that Canada gets in winter. I've sent things that got there faster than I expected and I have received things that got here faster than I expected, and most of them are coming or going to BC from Ontario or further east. And my local posties have been going above and beyond, delivering parcels to my door when they could have left a key in my community box or carded them for pickup.

This time of year is cold; weather's often bad; holidays get in the way of speedy delivery.

It's that way in the US right now, too. COVID and loads and loads and loads of people shopping on line. The US Postal Service hasn't even recovered from our recent Very Postal Christmas where we all mailed each other presents to watch them open them on Zoom only to find out that so many people did that that millions of deliveries promised by Christmas didn't make it, post offices getting so buried in packages that they ran out of room and so packages got super delayed because of starting to deliver first in last out instead of first in first out as packages got shoved farther and farther back as new packages came in. The average delivery time on two-day priority mail right now is 27 days.
