what is 2d space and 3d space?
let's say you take a 3 x 5 rectangle and you divide it down the middle. then the area is half of 15. but if you also divide instead diagonally you get two triangles also half of 15. how come the areas are equal? is area and volume and even 1d linear line some kind of quantity?

You made two 3 by 2.5 rectangles. Each has an area of (3)(2.5) = 7.5
Then you made two right triangles with sides 3 and 5. Each has an area of 1/2 base time height. A = (1/2)(3)(5) = 7.5

Rectangle area A = wL w= width, L = length
Area dividing length by 2 --> A_l = 1/w*L
area dividing width by 2 --> A_w = 1/2 w*L
area dividing along diagonal
Area of one rt. triangle = A_t = 1/2 b*h let h = w, then b = L ---> A_t = 1/2 w*L
