They were touching before. When I was younger there was a huge gap, then I got braces and they were touching without a gap/without it splitting like a triangle
When they finally were touching, I didn’t have a bigger gap at the bottom at all

I have no idea, but I read a news article the other day about a girl who had gapped teeth but when she lost weight, the gap closed. You can read the story in link below.
