Is a 2,577 square foot home considered a big house? ?

It's all relative to where you live, HOW you live and how much space you need or want. It's plenty big in my opinion--but if you have 8 children, it might not be big enough. My house is half that square footage and two of us live in it very comfortably. I wouldn't want any more space. But that's me--not everyone.

If it was built in the 80's, then yes, it would have been. Now a days, not so much, at least compared to what they have been building around here. I stand corrected, most of the building around here for the last decade has been 3500 plus. But most of the homes for sale in the area are like mine, 2000 to 3000. Which would put that 2500 smack in the middle. Of course, around here, like mine supposedly is, that is almost 500 thou. Not even remotely worth it in my mind. 3 years left supposedly, cross fingers.

I would call it medium-large. That's a typical house suitable for a family.

That depends on its location.
In Manhattan, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, yes, that's a big house and would cost more than $1 million.
In Phoenix, Cincinnati, Sarasota, Austin, or Minneapolis, it's a fairly roomy medium-sized house, probably with at least three bedroom, possibly as many as five, and two or two and a half baths.
I grew up in a family of five in an 1800sf house. I raised a family of four in a 2300sf house. I'm now in a 3400sf house. Same number of rooms as the last one, but all are larger.

Bigger than average I would say.
