No, obviously it's not a sandwich. If you and your friends have been debating that for YEARS (which I know isn't true, btw), you're hanging out with some pretty stupid people.

Anything that is bread or a split roll or a wrap or anything similar with sandwich type filling inside, I'd probably consider to be a kind of sandwich. A hot is meat on split roll, a type of sandwich. Back when "hamburger" first became the popular term for cooked ground meat patty on a split roll, it was called "hamburger sandwich."
