Gay guys: are we all unusually silent right now?

Update:

Or maybe I mean we’re not talking about our sexual orientation at the moment.

As a gay man, I don't see the need to talk about my sexual orientation - I'm out and people know that I'm gay.  There's no need to broadcast it.  However, when I become aware of people (here or in my daily life) who are bigots, whether it has to do with LGBTQ+ issues, race or ethnicity issues, I speak out.  I call them on it.  Is that what you mean by talking about sexual orientation?  Of course, I have the good fortune to live in a progressive society.

UPDATE:  Ah...I see.  Well, Sparrow probably has the right of it.  I mean, really NObody is talking much on Y!A these days - even in the Politics section.  I think that's due to the site's inability to address its troll problem...people have just gone to other forums.  And IRL of course people are focused on the vaccine, the new virus mutations' infection level, and the American inauguration for the moment.

(And of course, aside from very young, inexperienced people...just how much can one talk about one's sexuality, anyway?  It is, after all, just a comparatively small part of everything that makes each of us who we are - isn't it?)

I dunno what you mean, Aiden...

    You're talking...I'm talking...others are talking...

What spurs you to suspect there's a veil of silence draped over gay guys, presently?

Probably all this political turmoil has distracted them. Maybe they are waiting to see where Biden really stands.

I’m a straight male but I do know that gay guys get a hard time from a lot of ignorant people out there who can’t accept difference which may make a gay guy become silent because he might be afraid to verbalise his sexuality.
